Post Newport v Gwent - teams
What the hell happened to the Gwent team? There were a few Caerphilly players in it to start with, but none have made the icWales list: http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/0500rugb ... _page.html

I guess it's a good job I wasn't able to make the match tonight. Huff, puff, fume :x

Quote:
icWales states that:Dragons: K Morgan; G Wyatt, S Winn, J Bryant, B Breeze; C Warlow, B Shelbourne; A Black, J Richards, R Thomas, I Gough (capt), L Charteris, R Beattie, R Bryan, J Ringer.

Replacements: K Crawford, C Anthony/G Robinson, P Sidoli, R Oakley, N Brew, R Payne, R Jones.

Gwent Premiership XV: A McCloghlin (Newport); N Hill (Bedwas), G Chapman (Newport), C Owen (Bedwas), S Horner (Ebbw Vale); S Mitchel (Cross Keys), O Jones (Pontypool); J Tilley (Bedwas), A Brown (Newport), J Salter (Bedwas), G Jones (Ebbw Vale), M Veater (Newport), G Lucas (Pontypool), R Jones (Newport), S Waldron (Newport).

What's bizzare is that there were 2 or 3 Caerphilly players in the original team that was announced on the Beeb.

Are Caerphilly in The Dragons' region then, thought they'd be The Blues?

Caerphilly geographically was in Mid Glam (it is now in Caerphilly County Borough). Caerphilly has always been part of Gwent in rugby terms though. They were part of the Dragons region last season and despite early attempts by Cardiff to get Caer & Bedwas as part of their region in the middle of last season (BTW Bedwas were enthusiastic, but Caerphilly weren't so happy as the Dragons had treated them well) they're still part of the Dragons this season - I think the break up of the Warriors gave the Blues enough other clubs to be dealing with.

Didn't know such a place ever existed, thought it was West, Mid and South Glamorgan?

Yeah, and Mid was a bit of a funny one as it surrounded South Glam. But it deffinately went Mid Glam into Gwent because I've driven between Caerphilly & Newport many times and past the signs!

I thought it was Newport Gwent Dragons not Newport RFC playing the Select XV from the Gwent region?

The Dragons lost 24-14. A poor game - the select team played 'spoiling' tactics!!!

How can a team lose 24-24. :?: :?:

What were these spoiling tactics Joe, was it like tackling and scoring tries. You just cant trust the rest of Gwent to play fair.
