I think we sometimes make 'coach' and 'coaching staff' too interchangeable. It is never just the coach, be it win or lose, there are so many shoots and branches that stand or fall together one will not work without the others

I don't think too many would argue it was time for Tandy to go. But my feeling is he was there as a sort of damage limitation exercise, a cheap option put in place to steer the ship while it headed for the rocks.
It's the owners who ought to apologise to the 'expectant fans' for the way everything has disintegrated over the last five years. The buck stops with them.

I agree that the owners need to take responsibility but I don't believe they appointed Tandy to shift the blame from their own ineptitude. To do that would require them to appreciate how bad they are.

They didn't but took the decision to do it irrespective? ;)

They're a joke to the people that know business and a joke to the people who know local rugby development. :D Yet their rugby must be built on local development due to the state of their finances :D Its very ironic.

Roger Blyth, "it's about the product"
Andy Millard, " we need to put on a performance on the product out there"

Interesting management at the O's.

I only watched a bit of that interview, but it struck me as odd that the two of them banged on about on field performance and pre-season training.
Surely their job is to raise the cash and run the business, and leave the rugby to the coaching team? Or are they more interested in living out fantasy rugby careers?

Absolutely hate it when referring to rugby as a product

Corporate *bull whips*. Have to watch what I say as this is open to search engines :D

Tandy is not a bad man, he was just not equipped to deal with everything a coach has to deal with.

The O's are very 'corporate' in their approach (which is no bad thing), but there comes a point when the level of corporateness, impacts negatively on the ability of the organisation to run.

If you have been told 'we have a tree to plant in the corner of the stadium, be here monday to plant it'.

If you turn up there is a spade, a small tree and a circle drawn on the ground saying 'plant here', you don't need 20 meetings each with 3 powerpoint presentations from the various 'stakeholders' to agree that you have to pick up the spade, dig a hole the size of the shrub, and put the shrub in the hole.

....and don't forget to fill it in afterwards ;)

Is the 'Stakeholder' the person that handles the big wooden support to keep the plant upright?
